Dehumidifiers are great units for maintaining healthy and efficient environments, especially in commercial settings such as offices, healthcare buildings, educational institutions, and more. Desiccant dehumidifiers help prevent mold and mildew growth by reducing excess moisture, which not only minimizes health risks but also protects the building’s structural integrity.
These units are made for large-scale applications and can be paired with generators to provide optimal performance. These powerful units can remove 3,032 pints of moisture per day, making them the perfect selection for more demanding environments. Dehumidifiers play a critical role in protecting equipment and materials from damage, particularly in environments where high humidity can lead to corrosion, rust, or malfunction. Learn more below about how to operate these units.
Desiccant Dehumidifier Operations Overview
The desiccant dehumidifier requires 460 VAC/3 ph, 106 amp to power the unit. Make sure that whatever power you’re using, whether it be from an electrical panel or a generator, it’s 460 volts and a three-phase system. If it’s a generator, make sure it has achieved power before turning on your unit.
- To turn on the desiccant, turn on the main power switch. When the unit is powered up, the phase-out light will flash. If the phase-out light stays on, then the phasing is incorrect and needs to be corrected at the panel or your generator powering the desiccant.
- Once the phase-out light turns off, the cool-down light will stay on for five minutes. Once the desiccant unit is ready, the cool-down light will go off. Then, the unit can go from standby mode to run mode and the desiccant is ready to run and remove the moisture out of the facility.
- Once you are finished with your desiccant, make sure you switch the unit from run to standby mode. The unit will continue to run for five minutes as it goes into a cool-down cycle. It is very important to let it finish the cooling-down cycle before turning off any main power to the unit. When the cool-down cycle is complete, the cool-down light will go off. You are now free to turn off the power and then shut off the breaker to the main power supply.
